There is not a single person who has not made some sort of mistake in his or her life. Unfortunately, depending on the person’s position, a mistake for some could mean additional personal and professional consequences, including media scrutiny. Such appears to be the case for a Nebraska state senator who is accused of drunk driving.
The incident that reportedly led to the man’s arrest occurred during the early morning hours of a day in early February. According to reports, a state trooper pulled over a driver, allegedly because he was unable to maintain his lane on a Nebraska interstate. Police claim that the man, the senator, refused a breath test on two different occasions.
Reports indicate that the man acknowledged the charges in a speech given on the legislative floor. In the speech, he is said to have admitted responsibility and apologized to his family and constituents as well as his fellow senators. In the same speech, he indicated that state senators are held to a higher standard than other people.
