Road construction is necessary to keep the roads in Nebraska and across the country safe. However, anyone who has driven through a construction site likely knows of the confusion that they can create, especially at night. Changes in traffic patterns and additional lights in the area can make them difficult to maneuver. As a result, an accident in such an area is possible. Unfortunately, a man has recently been charged with drunk driving after he was allegedly involved in an accident.

The incident is said to have happened just after 2 a.m. on a day in early August. According to reports, a pickup truck driven by a 38-year-old woman was stopped at a “posted construction light.” Police say a truck driven by a 26-year-old man rear-ended her.

Though the nature of her injuries is unclear, she was transported to the hospital. Additionally, it is unclear how police determined the male driver’s level of sobriety. However, he was taken into custody and arrested for driving under the influence.

It may be easy to make assumptions about the cause of an accident, especially when the accident happens at a certain time of day and involves a driver in a certain demographic. Unfortunately, these assumptions are insufficient to meet the high burden of proof demanded by the criminal court for a person to be convicted of drunk driving and/or other crimes. To ensure that they are treated lawfully and a fully prepared to respond to the accusations against them, many people facing accusations of crimes in Nebraska want an experienced professional on their side.
