An accident that results in a serious injury is always a tragedy. However, there is often a need to hold someone accountable for such an accident even if it was a matter of a simple mistake or miscalculation. Unfortunately, a man is now accused of drunk driving following a crash in Nebraska that sent a woman to the hospital.

The incident that led to the man’s arrest happened one evening on a day in late January. According to reports, a 29-year-old woman was attempting to turn when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a pickup truck. The force of the collision allegedly pushed both vehicles across the median. The woman suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Police say that the 27-year-old man they believe was driving the pickup truck fled the scene. He was taken into custody approximately a mile and a half from the crash. Police claim that someone called them after he admitted that he had been involved in an accident and that the police were looking for him.

The man now faces several criminal charges. In addition to drunk driving, he is accused of obstruction of justice and failure to render aid. Because many people in Nebraska who are charged with a crime are unsure of their options, they often hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to guide them through the process. With such help, they often feel more prepared to make the decisions — that will likely have a significant impact on the rest of their life — facing them.
