Many people in Nebraska who want to spend time with friends and consume alcohol have a plan to ensure that everyone gets home safely. Often, this includes utilizing a service such as Uber, which is basically a taxi service. Unfortunately, a group of people who were allegedly using Uber claim that their driver was drunk driving and contacted police.

The incident happened on a day in early July. Police say they were contacted at approximately 3:30 a.m. According to reports, police responded after passengers in an Uber reported their concerns regarding their driver.

Reports indicate that the passengers claim their driver was driving erratically and asking them for pot. Police say they determined that the man was intoxicated upon arrival at the scene, stating that his blood alcohol content was significantly over the legal limit. The man now faces multiple charges, including second offense DUI, reckless driving, not having insurance and disturbing the peace.

Following an arrest that results in drunk driving charges, defendants often have several decisions that they must make. Unfortunately, those without any form of legal training likely feel unprepared to make them, prompting them to seek guidance from an experienced criminal defense attorney in Nebraska. Such a professional can examine all aspects of a case, including how a person’s blood alcohol content was determined and issues surrounding its reliability, and help those facing criminal charges make the decisions facing them — decisions that will likely have a significant impact on the rest of their lives, specifically involving how to respond to the charges against them.
