Nebraska robbery leads to criminal charges

On Behalf of Whelan Law Office | Jul 6, 2018 | Criminal Defense, Firm News |

Whenever a person is charged with a crime, he or she has certain rights. While the average person may have a vague understanding of some of their rights, they may be unable to recognize unlawful treatment or unaware how to best respond to it. For example, a Nebraska man may be feeling overwhelmed following his recent arrest on robbery charges.

The incident that led to the man’s arrest happened at a branch of Great Western Bank on a day in June. According to reports, a 30-year-old man and another person walked into the bank wearing disguises and pretending to have a gun. Police say that the pair took just under $85,000 from the bank.

Reports indicate that the registration of a rental vehicle spotted by a witness led them to the defendant. Police say that a search revealed that the man was in possession of items that appeared to be identical to items used during the incident. Currently, no one else has been charged, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them. No customers were present during the incident, and no one was injured.

Though the man has no prior criminal record, a magistrate ordered him to be detained. The situation the man is in as a result of the robbery charge is serious, and he may be unsure about his options. Fortunately, there are attorneys in Nebraska who are willing to fight aggressively on behalf of their clients, ensuring that they are fully informed about all elements of their case.
